Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

This summer Melissa Jones will be undergoing some much needed renovations.  You may recall that a bond was approved last April 2011 that included replacement of the windows in the café. The windows in MJS café are original to 1953 and we are glad to have new energy efficient windows installed.  We hope the funds will stretch to include renovating and repairing the lavatories near the foyer of the school and also replacing windows in the primary wing. Since the window project includes asbestos abatement, we cannot permit any students in the building during the summer.  There never seems to be a good time to do these projects, but the summer will be less obtrusive to the school year instruction.  Unfortunately we will miss the Suncatchers program this summer and will gladly welcome them back for the start of the 2012-2013 school years.

The communication tower that the fire station and police use will also be replaced this summer. It looks like the playscape area will be roped off until this project is finished since there will be construction traffic coming from the parking area to the north of the school.  I will keep families informed of the progress of these projects through the Bee Line Times.

Regards,

Paula McCarthy
Principal
