Who is Melissa Jones?

Our school is named after a teacher named Melissa Jones. Melissa Jones was born on June 21,1907 at Ellsworth, Maine. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jones. She attended school with her brother and sisters. In 1926 she was graduated from Farmington State Normal School,after which she taught in one room Maine schools for a few years. In 1931 she began her teaching job at a two room school in North Guilford, grades 4-6. For eighteen years, without a day absence she was teacher, friend, advisor, and second-mother to hundreds of children.
