Guilford Lakes School Nurse
Please do not send your children to school
when they are ill.
As a general rule,
a child should be fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of Tylenol/Motrin).
Children with stomach or intestinal problems during the night should
also not be sent to school. Children who are seen by a doctor should
be taking antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Although we realize the difficulties working parents have,
we are certain you would agree how important it is to
keep
a
healthy
environment for the Guilford Lakes community. In the interest of
all, we ask you to use good judgment and keep a sick child home.
Most medications can be given before or after
school. If medication is needed during school hours, it should
be brought directly to the health office by an adult. Please remember
that all medications, prescription and non-prescription, are not
allowed
in school for any student unless a written order is provided by
the
child's physician and signed by his or her parent or guardian.
All medication must be in the original container or packaging. No
more
than a 45
day supply may be kept at school.
A current physical examination is
required for all new students and those students
entering pre-k, kindergarten and third grade.
This
site is meant to provide information and is not to be used in lieu
of medical care
from your child's physician.
If you have any questions, please
feel free to call the school nurse at 453-5201, Ext. 204.
