GHS National Merit Semi-Finalists

These seven students are competing for recognition and college scholarships administered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). There are approximately 1.5 million entrants with about 50,000 qualifying for recognition. Of the 50,000, approximately 16,000 become Semifinalists nationwide and most continue to become Finalists. The NMSC uses the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test as the initial screen for program entrants during their junior year. Additional academic achievement requirements and other criteria must be met for students to advance to Finalists. The GHS students will be notified in early 2010 if they have advanced to Finalist standing. Merit Scholarships are then awarded to many of the finalists.
