January 2007
Dear Parents,
Adams received two very nice gifts this fall and we wish to acknowledge and thank each sponsor for their generosity.
First, in celebration of the refurbishing and expansion of its Guilford store, Big Y Supermarket gave every school in the district an unrestricted gift of $500.00. This gift for Adams has been deposited into the school activity account and will be held to augment the funds needed for the annual gift presented by the Adams Student Council. Each year members of the Adams Student Council select and purchase an item for our school. Recent past gifts have included a bike rack for use by students who ride to school, the set of large positive character banners that hang in our gymnasium, a pair of customized Adams Middle School table covers for school ceremonies, and a custom school banner that hangs in our library media center. This generous gift from Big Y Supermarket will enable the members of the Student Council to “think big” in their discussions for a gift this year.
A second gift is due to the efforts of Mr. And Mrs. Andrew Christian, who sponsored grant requests for five schools through the Exxon-Mobil Educational Alliance Program. Adams received a $500.00 grant through this process. The Educational Alliance Program supports schools across the country. It provides Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in their communities through grants to neighborhood schools. The grant to Adams has been deposited into our scholarship fund and will be available to help defray the cost of field trips, school pictures and yearbooks for students in need. The proceeds from this program will be very helpful to us and will directly benefit our students and families in need.
Gifts such as these demonstrate the positive efforts and generosity of the citizens and businesses in Guilford. We are grateful for the funds because they will benefit our students and our school.
Best wishes for the new year and thank you for your continued support,
Catherine Walker and Bob Loizeaux
