From Our Main Office

Mrs. Maggie Woodruff-School Secretary ~ Mrs. Jane Yates-Main Office Secretary

Attendance: Please call the main office as early as possible to inform us of your child's absence.
This will insure your child is included on the morning attendance that is provided for staff.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Keeping you informed is a top priority at Guilford Public Schools. That’s why we have adopted the ALERTNOW Notification Service which allows us to send telephone and e-mail messages to you to communicate important information immediately. Should an emergency occur during the school day, you will be informed immediately by phone and email. Additional uses for the notification service include reminders about important events and announcements relevant to the school district. "The Anchor," our district's electronic listserv is also distributed via the ALERTNOW system.

From the Transportation Department:
Our Transportation Department would like to thank you in advance for using the proper student drop-off/pick-up site in the south parking lot at Adams Middle School (near the basketball court). This will make the north lot much safer for faculty and staff entering the building in the morning and leaving the building in the afternoon. Thank you for hearing our request and acting to improve the safety for members of our Adams family.

GUILFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS
BUS TRANSPORTATION GUILDELINES
: All pick-up/drop-off times are approximate and may vary plus or minus 10 minutes. Students should be waiting at the designated stop 7-11 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time to assure that they will be seen by the driver.
· During the first several weeks of school, routes and times may be adjusted to assure timely arrival at schools. Pick-up and drop-off locations are determined by the Board of Education based on safety conditions in consultation with the Laidlaw Safety Director and the Guilford Police Department.
· On occasion, buses will run late due to such things as mechanical breakdowns or inclement weather.
· Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children until they board the bus, after which the Board of Education assumes supervisory responsibility. In the afternoon, parents assume supervisory responsibility when students get off the bus.
· Morning and afternoon kindergarten students will be dropped off only if the driver can see an adult. If no adult is visible, the driver will radio the bus yard dispatcher who will call the home. If there is still no adult available, the student will be returned to school.
· Pick-ups and drop-offs of students at non-home addresses (day care, etc.) are available on a route and space-available basis.

Please direct questions or concerns to their respective school principal, Student Transportation of America at 453-9056 or to Nils Peterson, Transportation Coordinator at 453-8206.
