Students will be introduced to the current unit of study and will be assigned a project, which will be due on Lesson 6 and presentation which will be due on Lesson 5. The assignment and rubric can be found in the accompanying link. Students will work to become an expert on their assigned religion. Special attention will be placed on using primary sources and properly providing MLA citation as well as an MLA bibliography. During the second half of the period, students will begin researching their topic. |
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students who have studied the same religion. This will provide time for reflection and additional fact gathering. Students may also use this time to work on producing their project, which should be in the form of a posterboard, pamphlet, children's book or cartoon. | |||||

Individual research in computer lab / laptop cart. Graphic organizer worksheets will be provided to keep track of notes and resources. Students will be encouraged to begin creating their project. |
During this lesson, students will engaged in a panel presentation. These presentation will take the form of a news conference, whereby the students presenting a certain religion will be questioned by the audience (remainder of the class). The audience will be responsible for recording the answers to their questions. The presenters will be able to reference their notes and materials and will receive the questions in advance. Presenters will be individually graded using the Accountable Talk Rubric. |

During this unit, students will continue participating in panel presentations. Once the panel presentations are complete, students will be expected to take an open notes quiz on the three religions that have been presented. Students projects will also be collected during this lesson. |
