Here are just a few tips on making your child's language learning successful.
1. Change the language setting and/or add Spanish or French subtitles when they are watching their favorite movie.
2. If you have a French or Spanish dictionary at home, choose a word of the day or word of the week and stick it on the fridge.
3. Stick 5 post-it notes on things around the house with the French or Spanish word for the thing written on them. Change the post-its every week or month.
4. Use the internet as a resource for games. Visit www.eleaston.com or www.quia.com and play the games there in French or Spanish.
5. Write down the alphabet on a piece of paper and see if they can think of a French or Spanish word for each letter.
6. Have them look in their French/Spanish dictionary to name one of the things they are having for dinner.
7. If they are a sports fan, go to yahoo.fr or yahoo.es and they can browse the French and Spanish Yahoo sports' pages.
