Hello Juniors and Families:
As we are sure you are aware, having a strong junior year is important for your post secondary planning. Quarter 4 is your opportunity to shine so keep focused (in spite of the weather) and accomplish your goal of demonstrating your strong academic skills. There are a few things to keep in mind in regards to the remainder of the quarter and planning for next year.
1. There are still several opportunities to take scholastic tests such as the ACT / SAT. The dates for this year are below. You will also have several opportunities to sign up for these exams in the fall, as you work on your post secondary process.
SAT SAT II Test Date Test available Reg Deadline Late Reg Deadline
May 5 SAT I and II April 6 April 20
June 2 SAT I and II May 8 May 22
ACT Test Dates Registration Deadline Late Registration Deadline
June 9 May 4 May 18
2. The undergraduate awards committees will begin meeting to decide on the various awards and honors. Please give an updated resume to your counselor as soon as possible, so that we can best represent you throughout the process.
3. School counselors will begin to work on your senior course selections as soon as the master schedule is set. We will contact you individually if any adjustments need to be made. The schedule must address both your graduation requirements and post secondary plans so we will work together to make this happen.
4. Lastly, the coming summer is a great time for you to continue to enhance your resume, by engaging in activities such as community service, precollege course experience, part time employment, summer camps, etc. There is a growing list available on the GHS Guidance page and through the Naviance program under enrichment opportunities.
Have a fantastic Quarter 4 and safe summer!
