Comparative Religions

Food for thought...Are all religions the same?

Mr. Colandrea is not teaching the Comparative Religions course for the 2011/2012 academic school year.

 

January 26th- January 30th Week 1

Monday: Seating assignments and course introductions. Students will complete a religiosity questionnaire and then take notes on an introductory power point presentation.

Tuesday: Power point presentation on Game Theory and Pascals Wager

Wednesday: Complete Game Theory Presentation and distribute article on the Soul. Students are encouraged to explore other articles presented by the HELIUM Web page.

Thursday: Discuss Article. Homework: Students are to investigate other theories about body and soul and write a one page reaction paper to their investigated article. Reaction paper should be typed with traditional margins and proper citations. See the following web page for assistance with academic citations. Due early next week.

Friday: Introduction of Judaism and its historical origin as presented by the Book of Genesis. In class reading distributed.

Week 2

Monday: Continue discussion of Judaism via power point presentation.

Tuesday: Review the framework for the World view of the religion and pass out longterm reading assignment. Collect reaction paper on body and soul.

Wednesday: In class video presentation on the traditions associated with the Jewish faith.

Thursday: Introduce causes of Anti-semitism by focusing on the publication of The Protocols of the Elders Zion.

Friday: In class presentation of movie about the Protocols from a Jewish perspective

Week 3

Monday: Continue discussion/video regarding the Protocols.

Tuesday: Introduction of the Book of Job

Wednesday: Interpretation of Job's faith in God and how it may apply to the Jewish Tradition

Thursday: Review Introductory Unit

Friday: Summative Assesment.
