The Baldwin Middle School Art Program...

Consists of grade 5 and grade 6 students. Students will actively participate in responding to as well as creating a variety of artwork throughout the school year as part of a Discipline Based Art Education approach to learning. The students are exposed to artistic processes and styles from various cultures as well as a variety media, including computer projects using PowerPoint. The Baldwin art curriculum is in alignment with the National and State Visual Arts Content Standards. See "curriculum" section for a list of these content standards. The visual arts improve critical thinking and problem solving skills for the students.

Mrs. Makoski and Mrs. Bongiorni are the art teachers at Baldwin. Please be sure to stop in the school the week of our annual spring "Festival of the Arts" in June. A culmination of work the students have done in art this year will be on display.

Mrs. Makoski is in her third year of teaching here at Baldwin Middle School.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Central Connecticut State University and has taught for three years before teaching in Guilford .  Mrs. Makoski teaches art to both 5th and 6th graders.  She loves art and is very excited about the projects planned for this school year.

Mrs. Bongiorni  has been teaching art in the Guilford Public Schools for thirty-seven years. She has been at Baldwin Middle School for thirty-four years. Baldwin is like a second home to her. She has a Masters Degree in Art Education from Southern CT State University. Mrs. Bongiorni is the part-time art teacher at Baldwin.
