Dear Team 6-2 Parents:

              I hope this finds you well and that our warm weather returns quickly.

              Last week our focus was on decimals and I gave the students an assessment on Friday that covered + - x /. Not everyone finished the assessment and if the kids are not happy with their grade then they can take a new quiz during any one of their study halls but they will have to coordinate it with me.

              This week we are moving into area and perimeter. Our new book is called Coverings and Surroundings. Of course, the students will have new vocabulary to record in their Vocab packets. We will start off with rectangles and then move on to parallelograms, triangles and circles – it’s going to be fun!

              Homework for this week includes Week 27, Balance Scale 18, and C&S Vocab all due on Friday. This week’s online homework is:

              http://www.mathgoodies.com/lessons/toc_vol1.html  - please do just 3 sections:

perimeter of polygons (you will have to scroll down and then click on continue this lesson), area of rectangles and area of parallelograms – there are 5 problems in each section – do all and record your responses neatly on a separate sheet of paper.

              I also need to let you know a few things:

  • the 3rd marking period closes this week
  • Wednesday, 3/28/12 is a shortened day – dismissal is 12:56
  • we are getting pizza on Wednesday and each student can get up to 2 slices - $1/slice. They should bring their own drink. We will eat during 9th period (12:30)

              The students are all doing a great job, thank you, parents, for all of your support; we could never do this without you!!!
