Guilford Public Schools Calendar

The intention of the Guilford Public Schools administration is to develop calendars that are first and foremost beneficial to learning and to students' needs. This includes providing blocks of instructional time in approximately eight-week segments. This time frame is conducive to learning. To provide optimal instructional time, when possible, days when school is not in session are clustered.

2011-12 School Year Calendar

The last day of school and Guilford High School graduation is currently June 15, 2012. There are currently two make-up days that have been added to the end of the school year calendar due to the emergency closings at the beginning of the school year due to Storm Irene. This date is subject to change should there be additional school closings during the school year.

2011-2012 APPROVED CALENDAR
Thank you to everyone who responded to the 2011-12 calendar survey. The results of the survey revealed that parents were overwhelming in favor of the proposed calendar. Of 630 respondents, 442 were in favor of the calendar (70%), 140 were opposed (24%), and 39 (6%) had no opinion.

As previously noted on the draft version of the calendar, several updates were made including changes to professional development dates, February vacation, April vacation and the last day of school in order to align our calendar with that of a regional proposal. Of particular note is that April 2012 vacation has been moved to the week of April 9th.
