Summer Reading 2011Message from Dr. Anne Keene, Assistant SuperintendentDear Guilford Public School Parents, I hope that you will encourage your child to read extensively this summer. Existing research demonstrates the critical importance that the early development of summer reading habits can play in providing the foundation for later success. This year we are asking that students read as much as they can over the summer and record the titles of the books in a reading journal. When students return to school in September, we hope that they will share their reading with their teachers and their classmates. Many schools are planning book talks. How fortunate we are to live in a community that values reading, supports its schools, and frequents the public library!
