Guilford Public Schools Preschool Program

The Guilford Public Schools Preschool is designed to meet the individual needs of children as determined by the Planning and Placement Team (PPT). Identified children between the ages of three to five years old, Guilford residents, and at risk for not making satisfactory educational progress upon reaching school age are eligible to participate in the preschool program.  The preschool provides an enriched one to two year experience in a cooperative learning environment that fosters growth in communication, social and readiness skills based on the Connecticut Preschool Curriculum Framework.

Peers are chosen by lottery each January for the following school year.  The preschool program offers a continuum of services that includes consultation with daycare or nursery school providers, screenings for developmental and language concerns, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

To assist parents who have questions specifically about their child’s language, readiness skills and social development the preschool team offers Child Find sessions by appointment in March of the school year. Information will be posted on the website and local newspapers.

For screening appointments and further information, parents and guardians may contact the Guilford Public Schools Pupil Services Department at (203) 453-0128.
