The information on this page will be updated throughout the summer in preparation for the opening of the 2009-2010 school year. The first day of school will be Thursday, August 27, 2009.

Pre-School: The first day of Pre-School at Guilford Lakes is Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Extra Pair of Hands Volunteer Training Sessions 2009-2010

All parents, guardians and family members who plan to volunteer in classrooms, on field trips, during special events, and at PTO activities this year must attend an orientation session. If you attended an orientation session during another school year, you are not required to attend again.

Open Houses and Orientations

Pre-School at Guilford Lakes- Wednesday, August 26.
A.M. Pre-K Open House is 11:30 to noon. P.M. is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. (more)

Elementary Schools - Wednesday, August 26, 2 to 3 p.m.
Students in each of Guilford's four elementary schools are welcome to come into the school to visit their new classrooms and meet their teachers.

Baldwin Middle School - Friday, August 21, 8:15 to noon
Orientation picnic for students entering Grade 5. Grade 6 students new to Baldwin are also welcome to attend. The picnic is for students only.

Adams Middle School - Friday, August 21, 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Students new to Guilford are invited to attend the Newcomers Orientation to listen to a talk from guidance counselors, tour the school, participate in a get acquainted activity and fill out an interest survey. Any incoming 7th graders who might be anxious about the transition to Adams are also welcome to attend. Please contact the school to let them know that you plan to attend at 453-2755.

Guilford High School - August 24 and 25

Freshmen Orientation 6:30 to 8 p.m. - Freshmen students and parents may join Principal Rick Misenti in the GHS auditorium at 6 p.m.

August 24 is for students with last names beginning with A-K.
August 25 is for students with last names beginning with L-Z.

August 24 - Upperclassmen New to Guilford at 2 p.m. - There will be a special orientation for upperclassmen new to Guilford High School in the Guidance Office.

Back to School Nights

Elementary Schools: Back to School Night for A.W. Cox, Calvin Leete and Melissa Jones will be Thursday, September 10. Guilford Lakes Back to School Night will be Tuesday, September 15. More information will follow from your child's school.

Baldwin: Back to School Night for 5th Grade will be Wednesday, September 30 at 7 p.m. 6th Grade will be Thursday, October 1 at 7 p.m.

Adams: Back to School Night for 7th Grade will be Wednesday, September 16 at 7 p.m. 8th Grade will be Thursday, September 17 at 7 p.m.

Guilford High School: Back to School Night will be Thursday, September 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. for parents of students in all grades. Please bring your student's class schedule with you to visit classrooms and meet teachers. More information will follow from the high school.
