Welcome to Melissa Jones School. Our school is a great place to be! Our parent and community involvement is so very strong. This support along with the work of our terrific staff carries out the vision of high level student achievement for all students. Melissa Jones School met Annual Yearly Progress this year for the Federal legislation under No Child Left Behind. This coming year we will continue our commitment to working with our children as individuals and maximizing academic effort and rigor. We will continue to be Busy Bee readers, Suncatchers, safety patrol, reading buddies, thinkers and responsible students. As our school goals state, at Melissa Jones School we are kind to each other, we act responsibly, and we always try our best. We uphold our commitment to acting with respect and kindness to all, modeling these characteristics in interactions with parents, community members, and each other. Melissa Jones is a learning community where excitement and enthusiasm fill the halls. We look forward to a great school year. Read this month's Message From the Principal Dear Melissa Jones School Parents, Along with some much needed renovations at Melissa Jones, we also have some new staff. I am very pleased to let you know Maria Suchy,is our new office receptionist. You will find Mrs. Suchy smiling and helpful at the front desk as you walk in. She is also the person you are most likely to reach if you phone us during the school day. Mrs. Suchy’s children were former Melissa Jones students but are now at the high school level. Mrs. Suchy will always be happy to assist you. By the way she is no relation to our grade 1 teacher, Barbara Suchy. As you know, Mrs. Corlett retired in June as our reading teacher. Ms. Kara Kennedy is our new reading teacher and comes to us from Hamden with a passion for reading and learning. She will be working with the staff on what we can do even better for our young readers at Melissa Jones. Our new Spanish teacher is Senorita Theresa Biagiarelli. She has taught at other levels, but enjoys the elementary level the most. She is starting to know all of our students in grades 1 through 4. Warm regards, Paula McCarthy, Principal Message to Parents from Superintendent Keene Online Payments Now Available for School Lunches Parents can now make payments online using debit or credit cards for school lunches.
